Giant floating ice at the beach is definitely something that I would expect to read about or to browse pictures of on National Geographic magazines. And yes, there are probably hundreds of them in there. Seeing the ice with my own eyes was something quite surreal. It was an unfamiliar landscape, somewhere that I really had not yet discovered.
I mean, for example, I looked at the amount of tiny ice balls that had reached the shores. I picked up one ball the size of my two fists combined, thinking that it weighed as much as a basketball, at most. To my disbelief, it was as heavy as my A4 sized, 8 cm thick biochemistry textbook. My jaw dropped on the spot as soon as I tried to lift the ice ball up with one hand.
