Was the dome designed for this exact effect?

The majestic rays of sunlight in the late afternoon left me in awe even when I look back at this photo on my phone. The way the gold linings sparkled on the huge dome and the surrounding high ceilings of St. Peter’s Basilica made me feel tiny and insignificant, in a good way.

Being a spiritual person, I believe in the incomprehensibly mighty God who created every single thing in this universe, who in all His glory takes such an interest in human beings, loving them, and freely giving salvation.

I felt humbled to know that despite being small and insignificant, He is there watching after me.
